Roasted Mushrooms

You might have read the prior posts for Spicy Potatoes, Indian Spinach or Garbanzo Beans and thought to yourself, “These sound great but I don’t have the spices, and I don’t want to buy them”. Well, here is a recipe you have no excuse not to try. All of the ingredients are readily available at […]

Turkey Hash

Hash is one of those dishes you usually think of making when you have leftovers. I think of it for a holiday brunch. It’s great on a buffet, you only need a fork, and everybody loves it. It includes all the things I crave at brunch: roasted potatoes, roasted peppers and some protein (in this […]

Freshly Baked Blueberry Focaccia Bread

I love fresh focaccia bread. My usual recipe calls for 00 bread flour and requires a triple rise. This requires time, planning, and a fair amount of work. If I wanted to make it for brunch, I’d have to get up way too early. This recipe is just the opposite. No special bread flour required, […]

Ham, Gruyere & Chive Loaf

Because I tested the ham recipe before Thanksgiving, I had lots of leftover ham. I thought it was the perfect time to think about how to use leftovers. Ham muffins, ham biscuits, maybe even ham baked in a pasta timballo, so many options. Suddenly I remembered a summer vacation many, many years ago when I […]

Dried Cranberry, White Chocolate Chip Cookies

No matter how lavish and enticing my desserts are, I find there is always room for a cookie. I think cookies remind us of our childhood: Cookies and milk, the cookies that were tucked into our lunch box, the cookies made by the school cafeteria, the smell of homemade cookies baking in the kitchen. So, […]

Israeli Salad & Tzatziki

Israeli Salad is so simple to make and fresh tasting that it’s a great addition to any summer party. I use small Persian cucumbers that don’t even have to be peeled. Could it be easier? You can tweak this basic recipe by adding finely diced purple onions or even diced Kalmata olives. In the Pulled […]

Antipasto Platter

When I was a kid, one of the restaurants we went to was an Italian pizzeria. There was a chef in the front, throwing and stretching pizza dough for all to see. We always ordered a huge family size pizza and I always burned my tongue on the hot melted cheese, too impatient to wait […]
